WINNEMUCCA - Local residents who are looking for a fun and fulfilling way to spend their time are invited to attend a volunteer training this Saturday at the Poke and Peek.

TATU training to be held Dec. 1

WINNEMUCCA - Calling all high school-age youth interested in doing presentations about tobacco and the effects of tobacco on the body. The American Lung Association will be conducting a free training in association with the Frontier Community Coalition on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. at Roundtable Pizza.

Students look at future options during career fair

About 450 students from Lowry High School, PASS and McDermitt attended the College and Career Fair 2011 held Nov. 10 at the Winnemucca Convention Center. There were about 40 colleges, businesses and military that participated. Prizes ranged from back packs, lunch boxes, shirts, sweat shirts, chairs, hats and a Columbia jacket.Photos by Michael Michaelsen,

Benefit craft and bake sale -

Garth Foster receives suspended prison sentence on possession for sales charge

WINNEMUCCA - Garth Foster was sentenced on Nov. 14 for the charge of possession of a controlled substance for sale. Foster had previously entered a guilty plea agreement to the charge subsequent to the denial of his motion to suppress evidence.

After School Work Camp to be held next week

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County School District (HCSD) Transition Programs has received a Medicaid Infrastructure Grant to host a week-long After School Work Camp for students with disabilities. The camp will run from Nov. 28 - Dec. 3.
