The 41st Annual Humboldt County School District Student Art Show is taking place at the Humboldt Museum during March celebrating March as National Student Art Month. The show features kindergarten through 12th grade student artworks from all Humboldt County School District schools and include a vast array of visual art mediums and techniques. Man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor

Juan Chavez, 41, was arrested Feb. 28 on charges of sexual assault on a child under the age of 14 years and lewdness with a child under 14 years of age.

Ross Edgar Hardin was born in 1901 and his wife Christine (Crutcher) Hardin in 1913. They spent their entire lives at the Fort McDermitt Piute/Shoshone Indian Reservation. Ross taught school on the Reservation and drove the school bus.

Open house at the airport -

COURTESY PHOTOThe Civil Air Patrol, city of Winnemucca and Winnemucca Air Service are cooperating with Shooting the West (the western United States photography conference) to host an open house at the Winnemucca Municipal Airport on Sunday, March 9. The event will be open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Numerous static displays of vintage military and civilian aircraft, GA aircraft, CAP aircraft, military vehicles and classic car and motorcycle exhibits are scheduled. The above aircraft, a World War II trainer/fighter, will be displayed at the open house. The aircraft is owned by Dr. Charles Stringham and is rare. According to Stringham, only 10 are known to exist worldwide and only five are known to exist in North America that are capable of being flown.
