Parking at the rodeo grounds circa 1926 -

WINNEMUCCA - This picture was taken from the grandstands of the old rodeo grounds. It shows the parking lot, not at all organized. People pretty much parked where they found room. Across the dirt road is the space reserved for the Native Americans. They came in, mostly from McDermitt, to watch the rodeo and to sell beadwork and leather items.

Nevada receives $3.4 million in Homeland Security funding

CARSON CITY - The Nevada Department of Public Safety - Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (NDEM) announced Tuesday the state has received a federal Department of Homeland Security grant award in the amount of $3,459,364, an increase over last year's award total by approximately $700,000.  

Louis Bidart is a 100,000-mile cowboy

WINNEMUCCA - During the Nevada Cattlemen's Association Convention and Trade Show in Winnemucca in November of last year, two men were recognized for riding at least 100,000 miles during their lifetime of cowboying. One was Monte Shangle and the other was Louis Bidart of Humboldt County.

Runners strut their stuff during Kaia for the Kure race

'Supermoon' rising -
