PLEASANT CENTER MENU for Sept. 5-11

Lunches are served each weekday at noon and soup and croutons is served at 11 a.m. the Pleasant Senior Center, 1480 Lay Street. Lunches are open to the public. Suggested minimum donation is $4 for seniors age 60 and older. Visitors must be 16 years or older. Their meal is $10.

NDOT completes project to replace aging Lovelock-area bridge

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Transportation has completed a project to replace an aging bridge on State Route 396/Upper Valley Road north of Lovelock. The bridge, located where State Route 396/Upper Valley Road transitions into a frontage road and travels over Union Pacific Railroad tracks, was originally constructed in 1931. Before being replaced, travel over the aging bridge had been prohibited for heavy commercial vehicles over recent years.

Death of woman on 1st day of Burning Man festival under investigation

RENO (AP) — Authorities said Monday that they are investigating the death of a woman at the counterculture festival known as Burning Man, which is held annually in the northern Nevada desert. The Pershing County Sheriff's Office said emergency personnel responded to a call about a woman found unresponsive around noon Sunday in Black Rock City — a temporary city erected for the festival, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Reno.
