Letter to the Editor

Reader responds to column

To the editor.

This letter is in response to an editorial written by Peggy Jones in the Opinion column of the April 23, 2025 edition.

Kilmer Abrego Garcia and the others who were recently deported by the current administration has really raised a stinky.

Please allow me to address a few errors in your letter.

2019, Mr. Garcia was taken into custody by ICE after he was arrested in Maryland.

At this point the events surrounding his status become interesting. Immigration judge Kessler denies Mr. Garcia’s bail bond citing evidence that he is a verified member of the MS-13 gang.

An order is issued for Mr. Garcia’s deportation to his home country.

Within 30 days of this action a “stop order” was issued by the same judge citing evidence that Mr. Garcia’s life would be in danger by rival gangs.

2020, Jennifer Vasquez the wife of Mr. Garcia filed for a restraining order claiming that on numerous occasions her husband become violent and had struck her, destroyed her personal property, threatened children from a previous marriage and declared the he could kill her and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

2021, Jennifer filled for another restraining order claiming physical and emotional abuse.

From all accounts Mr. Garcia is not a very nice fellow and did very well gaming our system until he received a deportation notice in the mail. He had 30 days to get his affairs in order.

Apparently, Mr. Garcia never attempted to become a citizen through our immigration process. From all accounts he never attempted to disassociate from his previous life.

In closing allow me to say that our president is doing excellent job of securing our borders and yes there will be painful moments.

Thank you.
