BLM approves Nevada North Lithium project

ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management today approved the Nevada North Lithium Exploration Project near Montello in Elko County.

With this approval, Surge Battery Metals USA, Inc., is authorized to conduct lithium mineral exploration activities through phased exploration over the course of three years. The plan proposes disturbance of up to 250 total acres across 7,819 acres of public lands.

“We greatly appreciate the public’s input during the analysis of this project,” said Wells Field Manager Melissa Fisher.

The exploration includes drilling, bulk sampling, infiltration testing, and test pits to support hydrogeologic and geotechnical investigations. Access roads will be constructed as necessary, and all project-related surface disturbances will be restored upon completion of exploration activities.

Project planning documents are available at the BLM National NEPA Register. For more information, please contact Melissa Fisher at mcfisher@blm.gov or 775-753-0200.
