Group looking for ‘canvas’ opportunities in Winnemucca

The Winnemucca Murals and Music Festival is looking for local building and business owners to participate in the inaugural festival, May 29 - June 1, 2025. Ideal candidates will have walls in the downtown corridor and provide permission for murals to be painted by local, national, and international artists. Murals will have themes relating to the history, culture, and heritage of Winnemucca and the region.

This festival will bring an array of diverse talents to produce colorful public art. The event is currently accepting artist submissions through the end of January. Soon, thousands of travelers, along with locals, will have an outdoor art gallery to stop at and enjoy. Reno, Elko, Carson City, and Fernley have seen increased tourist activity and local business engagement after hosting a mural festival. Winnemucca will add another vital stop along Nevada’s Mural Highway.

This inaugural 4-day festival will bring beautiful art to public places. But more importantly, it will create collective identity and serve as a catalyst for continued revitalization, crossing economic and social boundaries.

This event is a collaboration between Winnemucca Main Street, Humboldt Development Authority, Nevada 95-80 Regional Development Authority, and the Governor's Office of Economic Development. Funding is supplemented by grants and generous donations from businesses and individuals.
