Nevada Outdoor School receives grant for rural education

CARSON CITY, NV – Nevada Outdoor School is among the 21 recipients of the 2025 Nevada Outdoor Education and Recreation (NOER) grant program, securing a $25,000 award to expand outdoor programming for rural students in Northern Nevada. The grant, announced by the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation, is part of a larger effort to improve access to outdoor education and recreational opportunities statewide.

The NOER program, created in 2019 by the Nevada State Legislature and funded in 2023, received 57 applications this year, totaling nearly $1.2 million in funding requests. After a competitive review process, the Advisory Board on Outdoor Recreation (ABOR) and the Division of Outdoor Recreation selected 21 projects to receive a share of $250,345.24 in grants. These funds will support a variety of outdoor education initiatives, from urban beekeeping to camping experiences, with the aim of fostering a connection to Nevada's natural landscapes.

Since its inception, the NOER program has allocated more than $500,000 in funding to support 45 projects across all 17 Nevada counties, marking a significant step in increasing youth outdoor access throughout the state.

With continued support, Nevada Outdoor School and other grant recipients are working to ensure that outdoor recreation and education remain accessible to all of Nevada’s youth, regardless of geographic location.
