On Sunday, Jan. 26, at approximately 5:57 a.m., troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle crash on State Route 225, near mile 67 in Elko County.
This location is approximately 65 miles north of Elko, NV, near Wild Horse Reservoir. The vehicle traveled down an embankment, onto the frozen reservoir and overturned. Unfortunately, the driver suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver was identified as 76-year-old Ross Honsinger of Phoenix, Arizona.
The crash is considered an open investigation and is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
