Lowry swimmers bounce back with dual wins over Sparks


The Lowry High School swim team got back on the winning track, sweeping a dual from Sparks on Saturday, April 12, at the Carson Aquatic Center in Carson City.

The girls squad beat the Railroaders 140-46, with the boys pulling out a 74-51 victory.

The Lowry girls won every event they were entered in, with Aidan Peters taking home the top spot in both the 200-freestyle in a time of 2 minutes, 42.15 seconds and the 100-butterfly at 1:27.96.

Olivia Smith, claimed two individual titles, leading the way in the 200-individual medley with a time of 3:02.17 and the 100-backstroke (1:25.59).

Makenna Toland won two events, as well, including the 500-freestyle at 7:18.49 and the 100-breasstroke, stopping the watch at 1:37.67.

Lizzie Harmon won the 50-freestyle in a time of 32.23 and was third in the 500-frestyle (8:12.88). The Buckaroos’ Iris Ramriez earned second-place finishes in the 50-freestle (32.69) and the 500-freestyle (7:50.77).

Teammate Camila Contreras also was the runner-up in two events, including the 100-butterfly (1:39.47) and the 100-backstrokr (1:42.73).

Caitlin Peters placed second in the 100-breaststroke and third in the 200-freestyle and Alora McClure finished third in the 100-backstroke and fourth in the 500-freestyle.

The 200-medley relay of McClure, Peters, Contreras and Peters were first and Ramriez, Harmon, Peters and Toland won the 200-relay. 

Ramriez, Harmon, Smith and Toland won the 400-relay. Sparks did not compete in any relays.

In the boys dual, Steven Camacho provided two ins for the Buckaroos, timing in at 27.64 in the 50-freestyle and the 500-freestyle (6:44.48).

Kael Siley had the other individual title, winning the 200-individual medley with a time of 3:05.48. In addition, he placed fourth in the 50-freestyle at 32.92.

Easton Goodell collected a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-breaststroke (1:35.31) and the 500-frestyle (7:17.35).

Francisco Ibarra finished third in the 100-freestyle in a time of 1:15.07 and fifth in the 50-freestyle (33.65). 

Andrew Egbert placed fourth in the 500-freestyle and sixth in the 50-freestyle.

The 200-medley relay of Egbert, Camacho, Goodell and Sisley beat Sparks with a time of 2:23.95 and Ibarra, Sisley, Goodell and Camacho won the 200-relay at 2:00.31.

Lowry was in Incline this past Friday for a dual with Hug and Wooster. Results were not available at press time.

The Buckaroos return to Incline Village on Friday, April 25, to dual Incline at 1 p.m. 

The regular season concludes on Friday, May 2, in Fernley with a dual against Fernley and North Tahoe.
