The Lowry High School boys soccer team remained in the hunt for a playoff berth in the Northern 3A with a win and tie at home this past weekend.

Lowry beat Dayton 1-0 on Thursday and played to a scoreless tie against Fernley on Saturday.

The Buckaroos sit in fifth place in league play at 3-2-2. Elko, Fernley, Spring Creek and Churchill County are above them in the standings.

In the win over Dayton, Carlos Valdez had the only goal off an assist by Jovany Cuevas.

Lowry played Fernley to a scoreless tie on Saturday afternoon against Fernley, who is in second place in the Northern 3A East. The Lowry team was dressed in green and black for Cerebral Palsy Awareness in honor of Martin Hernandez. 

Lowry closes out the first half of the Northern 3A East schedule against Churchill County on Friday at 4:45 p.m. It will also be senior day for the Buckaroos.
