Lowry’s Karyn Morton finishes off a kill in the Lady Bucks’ four-set win over Sparks on Thursday night in Winnemucca,

A win is a win, is a win and the Lowry High School volleyball team got that win in its home debut this past Thursday against Sparks.

Despite some bumps along the way, the Lady Bucks rallied to beat the Railroaders 25-18, 13-25, 25-19 and 25-18 in Northern 3A crossover play.

The crossover matches do not count toward league standings.

Lowry took early control in the opening set, scoring the first seven points, including four aces from Vanessa Lott, as the Railroaders had trouble receiving the serve.

Later in the first set, Allison Green added a kill and three aces of her own to give the Lady Bucks a 14-6 advantage.

A kill and ace by Olivia Espinola pushed the advantage to 20-11 and Lott closed out the set with a kill and an ace.

After it went all right to start the match, it went the opposite direction in the second set, as Sparks blitzed Lowry for a 25-13, capitalizing on Buckaroo errors.

Lowry regained its form in the third set, scoring eight of the first nine points, capped off by an ace from Espinola.

However, that advantage quickly disappeared, with the Railroaders racing back to tie the set at 9-9 and 10-10.

In the back-and-forth set, Lowry scored the next five points, including two aces from Karyn Morton.

The Railroaders did not go away and rallied to close the gap to 19-18, when the Lady Bucks scored the next five points.

Lowry collected two kills from Hazen Root and one kill each from Kianna Bazile and Morton to close out the set.

Lowry could not hold on to that momentum, as Sparks jumped out to an early lead. The Lady Bucks came back and led by five points at 12-7, after an ace by Morton and a kill from Lott.

The Railroaders battled back to close the gap to 15-14, when the Lady Bucks pulled away with a kill from Green, a block from Root and a kill by Morton.

Lowry closed out the match with an ace from Morton and a kill by Espinola.

Lowry continues Northern 3A crossover play, hosting Truckee on Friday at 6 p.m., and traveling to Reno and North Valleys High School on Saturday for a noon start.

Lowry is back on its home floor on Sept. 20-21 to play Elko and Spring Creek.
