Coral Academy grabs home win over Battle Mountain

As it was in the Northern 3A this past weekend, the Northern 2A saw a little shakeup in the standings, as the Battle Mountain High School football team lost 20-19 to Coral Academy on Saturday afternoon at Reno High School.

The Longhorns entered the contest in third place at 3-1 in the Northern 2A and are still third at 3-2 but the standings are much closer for the final playoff spots.

Pershing County and Incline are atop the standings at 4-0.

Battle Mountain is 3-2 and West Wendover and Coral Academy follow at 3-3. West Wendover beat Coral Academy 33-21 earlier in the year and own the tiebreaker for the fourth spot.

The last two weeks of the regular season will have an impact on postseason seeding.

Battle Mountain hosts Pershing County on Thursday at 7 p.m. and travel to West Wendover on Friday, Nov. 1, to end the regular season.

Coral Academy hosts Dayton on Friday in a non-conference match-up with no effect to the standings.

However, Coral Academy travels to Lovelock on Nov. 1, to play Pershing County.

West Wendover, who lost to Pershing County 52-6, this past Friday is off this week and hosts Battle Mountain on Nov. 1.
