The Battle Mountain High School cross country team headed back out on the road last Friday to Wells for the Wells Invitational at Chimney Rock Golf Course.
The Longhorns featured four runners in the girls 3.1-mile race, with Danielle Madalena placing 27th with a time of 23:52.
Sonja Shere finished 30th at 24:13 and Violet Peterson (26:30) and Ivy Peterson (28:37) rounded out the finishers for Battle Mountain.
Elko freshman Avery Shotly crossed the line first at 19:51 and Lowry sophomore Alyla Thomas (20:09) was second.
Jerome, Idaho, claimed the team title with 38 points and Spring Creek (50), Elko (57), Lowry (84) and Wells (148) rounded out the top five.
Sean Doney paced the Battle Mountain boys with a 54th-place finish in a time of 22:23. Senior teammate Gabriel Aleman was 75th at 28:10.
Spring Creek had five of the top seven finishers, including the first three across the line.
Scottie Adams won the race in a time of 17:12 and Rhett White was second at 18:05.
Spring Creek won the team title with 17 points, followed by Jerome, Idaho (61), Wells (92), Elko (100), Jackpot (138) and West Wendover (147).
Battle Mountain travels to Winnemucca on Saturday for the Lowry Invitational at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
The Northern 2A Regional Championships is set for Friday, Oct. 25, at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
