St. Paul’s Centennial Celebration to be held Saturday


St Paul’s Catholic Church as been a long-time staple of Winnemucca on the corner of Fourth and Melarkey streets. The church turns 100 this year and is ready to show off its renovations.  

After renovations were done to much of the church, a Centennial Celebration will unveil them on Saturday beginning at noon. 

In preparation for the celebration, members have been renovating the church with a new paint job, concrete, stucco repair, stained glass restoration and much more. 

On Saturday, a parade will begin at noon at the corner of Bridge and Railroad. It will turn right on Melarkey, left on Fourth and end at Lay Street.

A Centennial Mass with the Bishop of the Diocese at will begin at 4 p.m., and the day will conclude with a catered dinner at the convention center that all are welcome to attend. Tickets are $60.  

On Sunday it is a Family Fair Day in front of the church with lots of food and games from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.  

“It’s not about raising money,” said Tammie Quilici. “We have been raising funds to pay for the repairs for almost a year. It’s about celebrating a beautiful church that was built here in Winnemucca in 1924.”
