California Trail Interpretive Center returns to winter schedule


ELKO — The California Trail Interpretive Center resumed a five-day per week schedule, as Oct. 6. The new operating hours will be Wednesday through Sunday 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Located eight miles west of Elko, Nevada at the Hunter exit (#292) on Interstate 80, the winter schedule will allow the public to continue to participate in programming, explore the history of the California Trail and shop for unique items in the gift shop in time for the holidays. 

The facility will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Nov. 28, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. 

The CTIC will continue the popular weekend interpretive programming that has been built over the past few years, appropriate for all ages to enjoy and participate. 

Each weekend will have a different a focus, providing something for all interests. Watch for season-specific activities such as snowshoe hikes or Pioneer Christmas and other activities coming up this winter that the whole family can enjoy.
