BLM seems public input on proposed energy corridor updates

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is inviting public comments on proposed amendments to the Section 368 West-wide Energy Corridors to support potential renewable energy projects, including the 200-megawatt Dodge Flat II Solar Energy Center in Washoe County. The Dodge Flat II project is currently under separate analysis, with a draft environmental assessment expected to be available for public review and comment in the coming months.

Section 368 energy corridors are designated as preferred locations for the development of energy transportation projects on lands managed by the BLM. The proposed modifications to these corridors aim to enhance solar development and meet the region's energy transmission needs.

A Notice of Intent will be published in the Federal Register on October 4, initiating a 30-day public comment period. Individuals interested in providing feedback can do so through the Federal Register website at this link. Additionally, the BLM plans to hold a virtual public meeting to disseminate information and collect comments; the date and time of this meeting will be announced at least 15 days in advance.

More details are available on the BLM's ePlanning site, and comments can be submitted via the “Participate Now” option or emailed to blm_nv_ccdo_dodge_flat_solar@blm.gov. Physical comments may be delivered to the BLM Carson City District Office, Attention: Dodge Flat II Solar Energy Center, 5665 Morgan Mill Rd., Carson City, NV 89701. The comment period will close on November 4 or 15 days after the virtual public meeting, whichever comes first.
