Lowry knocks off Sparks on the road, defeated by Dayton and Fernley

The Lowry High School volleyball team spent much of last week on the road, completing the first half of the Northern 3A East schedule and a non-conference match thrown in as well.

Lowry made its way to Dayton on Wednesday, Oct. 2, and lost in three sets to the Dust Devils. Following a one-day break, the Lady Bucks were back in Lyon County on Friday night to play Fernley. The Vaqueros swept that match 25-19, 25-11, 25-18.

With the two defeats, Lowry dropped to 0-5 in the Northern 3A East.

Lowry ended a five-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 25-12, 26-24, 25-11 win over Sparks.

The Lady Bucks knocked down 22 kills, including a team high six from Allison Green. 

Olivia Espinola added five kills and Karyn Norton and Hazen Root finished with four and three kills, respectively.

Lowry was dominant from the service line with 22 aces, led by Espinola with eight and Morton five. Vanessa Lott contributed three aces and Audrey Mason and Kalli Raabe each had two aces.

Four players were in double figures in digs, Vaneesa Lott (14), Elma Jimenez (13), Espinola (13) and Morton 11. Raabe had eight digs and Green five.

Lott had a team-high 10 assists, with Mason and Green adding three and two, respectively.

Lowry travels to league-leading Spring Creek on Friday for a 6 p.m. start and Elko 

On Saturday at noon. The final road match is Oct. 18, in Fallon.
