LHS cross country in action twice last week


The Lowry High School cross country team headed west last week headed west on I-80 last week for meets in Reno and Sparks.

The Buckaroos were in Sparks and Reed High School this past Friday for the Reed Invitational at Shadow Mountain Park.

Sophomore Alyla Thomas provided the best Lowry finish in the 5,000-meter girls varsity race in a time of 22:17.

Aislin McMahon from Sky Pointe won the race at 20:31 and Galena’s Gioia Coudriet (20:47) and Lucy Nord of Douglas (20:49) were second and third, respectively.

Mia Preciado finished 49th at 25:47, followed by Azure Sagers (26:46), Brooklyn Swensen (26:54) and Mariah Ramos (27:03).

Sky Pointe won the team title with 40 points and Lowry was ninth with 197 points.

Sophomore Adel Hall was the lone Buckaroo in the girls junior varsity and finished 46th in a time of 32:00. 

Bishop Manogue’s Soraya Jones won the race at 25:04.

In the boys varsity race, sophomore Cooper Hoagland placed 22nd in a time of 19:17.

Somerset Academy Sky Pointe had four of the top-10 finishers to win the team title with 34 points. 

The Sky Pointe dup of Carter Prater (17:08) and Jack Medina (17:20) were first and second.

In the boys junior varsity 3.1-mile race, freshman Anden Thomas and senior Kolby Hoagland provided strong finishes.

 Thomas was 10th in a time of 21:08 and Hoagland finished 12th at 21:15. Finn Baldwin was 22nd with a time of 23:15 and Lennox Zebroski (23:43) was 31st.

McQueen had four of the top five finishers including the winner in An-drew Miller at 20:02.


Lowry runs at the Ranch Invitational

Lowry was in Reno on Tuesday, Oct. 1, for the Ranch Invitational at Da-monte Ranch High School. The meet was scheduled for mid-September but was postponed due to the Davis Fire.

All six of the runners for the Lowry girls placed in the top 21. Thomas finished fourth in a time of 22:24, with Swensen 14th at 25:44 and Natalia Cassinelli (26:45) finished 16th.

Mia Preciado was one spot back in 17th at 26:47 and Ramos (27:43) and Sagers (28:03 closed out the finishers.

Spanish Springs won the team title with 26 points and had the two finishers in Kambri Felsted (19:48) and Taizley Felsted (20:36).

Hoagland paced the Lowry varsity boys in ninth with a time of 19:12. Anden Thomas (21:03) and Kolby Hoagland (21:05) were 15th and 16th, respectively.

Baldwin placed 21st at 22:28 and Zebroski was 23rd at 24:33.

Spanish Springs’ Peyton Miller won the race with a time of 16:11.

The regular season is quickly coming to an end and Lowry will be in Wells on Friday.
