The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is set to kick off another round of pre-service training for foster care applicants on October 22, 2024, at 5:45 p.m. This training consists of four sessions, providing a total of 8 hours of introductory information for those interested in becoming foster parents.
DCFS welcomes applicants from various backgrounds. To qualify, individuals must be at least 21 years of age, demonstrate financial stability, and can be single, married, or in a domestic partnership. Applicants can also rent or own their home and select the age range and gender of the child they feel most comfortable parenting. Depending on space, foster parents may be licensed for up to six beds.
