Battle Mountain girls golf team concludes regular season on home course

The weather was perfect last Thursday at Mountain View Golf Course, as the Battle Mountain High School girls golf team concluded the regular season on its home course.

Virginia City claimed the team title, with a four-player score of 424 and White Pine placed as the runner-up at 471.

Spring Creek JV (485), Elko JV (500), Battle Mountain (504) and Wells (524) completed the team standings.

Virginia City had three of the top five finishers on the day. 

Battle Mountain’s Kiana Gonzales was the runner-up with a round of 103.

Jaylee Jorgenson carded a 126, followed by Juliet LaRiva (128) and Jayci Villanueva (137).

Battle Mountain travels to Jackpot on Thursday for the Northern 1A/2A East Regional Championship at Jackpot Golf Club.

The first tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The top three teams and top six individuals from non-qualifying teams will advance to the NIAA Class 2A state tournament.

Teams will consist of a maximum of six players and must have a minimum of four legal scorecards signed and turned in after each round in order to post a team score.

The NIAA 2A State Championship is set for Oct. 16-17 at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko.
