The latest stop for the Nevada High School Rodeo Association was at the Carson/Douglas rodeo from Nov. 1-3.
The Humboldt County Rodeo Club came back with a number of individual champions.
Brynn Barto claimed the average win in barrel racing with a two-go time of 36.407 seconds.
She won the second performance at 17.813, the only ride under 18 seconds for the weekend.
Barto is the season-long leader with 156 points over Eureka’s Quil Filippini (113).
Barto won the first performance of breakaway roping at 2.35, the quickest of the weekend but missed her calf in the second performance and finished third in the average.
Matti DeLong took home the goat tying crown with an average of 16.620.
She won the first go-around at 8.36 and was second in a time of 8.26. Delong placed second in the first performance of girls cutting with 71 points and ended fifth in the average.
She was the runner-up in pole bending, which included strong runs of 22.819 and 23.180.
DeLong was ninth in team roping, 11th in barrel racing and 21st in breakaway roping.
DeLong is the all-around leader with 284.50 points and Barto is fourth with 244 points
Taylor Hill won the pole bending average on the strength of her second and-third-place finishes.
She was the runner-up in the first go at 22.710 and added a time of 22.607.
Hill finished fifth in the rifle shoot, seventh in girls cutting, including a fourth-place outing in the first performance, 11th in barrel racing, 12th in breakaway roping and 14th in goat tying.
Lane Byrd won the boys cutting average by two points with 141 and he also won the first performance with 71 points.
Byrd and partner Tucker Shippy from Wells were fourth in team roping and Byrd placed ninth in tie-down roping.
Shailee Robison and Leigh Johnson were 17th and 20th in barrel racing, Kayleigh Marshall placed 19th in breakaway roping and Johnson was 19th in pole bending.
Bryce Fears and Alamo’s Raelee Chistian were fifth in team roping. Logan Marshall and Spanish Springs’ Bennett Stal were seventh in team roping.
Battle Mountain’s Eli Lancaster finished fourth in steer wrestling and 12th in tie-down roping and Jorja Mashburn placed 11th in goat tying. Lovelock’s Jacob Burke was fourth in boys cutting.
Junior High
Results
In the junior high division, Humboldt County’s Louise DeLong finished second in barrel racing and Huntley Byrd was ninth and Byrd used a win the first performance of breakaway roping with a time of 3.90 to place third in the average.
Byrd finished third in pole bending with a time of 47.681, as she won the second performance at 20.506, the quickest run of the weekend.
She placed seventh in goat tying and DeLong was sixth in pole bending.
DeLong and partner Pete Mori of Elko were second in ribbon roping, with Byrd and Eureka’s Frank Buchanan fifth in ribbon roping. Byrd and Elko’s Luke Matson were seventh in team roping.
On the boys side, Humboldt County’s Jace Barto won the second go-around of breakaway roping at 2.72 to place fifth in the average.
Battle Mountain’s Logan Lancaster was sixth in the average and Lovelock’s Tripp Arndt was seventh. Humboldt County’s Chance Thomas placed 10th in the breakaway average.
Barto, Arndt, Battle Mountain’s Cray Tervort and Thomas finished 9th-12th in boys goat tying. Lancaster finished second in the chute dogging average, with teammate Tervort eighth.
Lancaster and Peter Mori won the team roping average by four seconds and Lancaster and Kaycee Osterhoudt were fourth in ribbon roping.
Louise DeLong and Huntley Byrd are second and third, respectively, in the all-around cowgirl race and Lancaster and Barto sixth and 10th in the all-around cowboy race.
The final fall rodeo of the season is this weekend in Moapa.
The spring season begins Feb. 14-16 in Pahrump.
