The 11th Annual Up and AATT 'em Alzheimer’s Awareness Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Whitworth Recreation Complex. The event, which raises funds for local Alzheimer’s respite care and education programs, offers a chance for participants to get active while supporting a great cause.
The event will feature three different race lengths: a 3K, 5K, and 8K, with all races starting at 8:00 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and participants are encouraged to arrive early for check-in and a rally before the races begin.
“All proceeds stay here for respite and education,” said Gini Cunningham, organizer of the Turkey Trot. “It's an excellent investment for our community.”
The races will be led by Lowry Wrestling athletes, and participants will be cheered on along the route by the Lowry Cheer team, adding an extra boost of energy and excitement for all runners and walkers.
Registration for the Turkey Trot is now open. Participants can sign up online at www.adf-winnemucca.com or by mailing checks payable to Alzheimer's Awareness to 3170 Sherwood Drive. The entry fees are $35 for adults and $25 for children ages 6-12.
Proceeds from the event will go directly toward local Alzheimer’s programs, which provide essential respite care and educational services for families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register early, as the event is expected to draw a large crowd this year.
