WINNEMUCCA — Winnemucca United has wrapped up another successful season of recreational soccer, marking its second year of providing a vibrant sporting environment for over 430 boys and girls aged 4 to 14.
From August to October, young athletes took to the fields, showcasing their skills and teamwork during a season filled with excitement and camaraderie.
The group’s mission is to help build the future of our community by promoting and developing character, cooperation, goal setting, and discipline while learning soccer fundamentals in a team-based setting.
This year, the league thrived with the dedication of over 50 volunteer coaches who committed their time and energy to nurturing the players.
Their passion and support have been instrumental in fostering a love for the game among the youth.
In addition, the league was bolstered by numerous youth and adult referees, both volunteer and paid, who ensured fair play and safety on the fields.
The season culminated in a thrilling tournament for the older, co-ed divisions, which took place on the final weekend.
This event not only highlighted the talent of the participants but also brought the community together, cheering on their favorite teams.
To enhance the game day experience, food trucks were on site throughout the season, offering delicious options for players and families alike.
This added a festive atmosphere to the weekends, making soccer games a community highlight.
Winnemucca United also coordinates a travel league that allows kids to further develop their skills and compete at higher levels.
This program provides opportunities for aspiring athletes to challenge themselves and grow in their soccer abilities, preparing them for future success in the sport.
The organization extends heartfelt gratitude to its sponsors for their generous support and to the City of Winnemucca for assisting in field maintenance and painting, ensuring top-notch playing conditions for all.
As the league looks ahead to future seasons, community engagement remains a key focus.
