Four members of the Battle Mountain High School girls cross country team made the long trek to Veterans Park in Boulder City this past Saturday for the NIAA 2A State Cross Country Championships.
Longhorn junior Danielle Madalena finished eighth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 23 minutes, 42.30 seconds.
Teammate and fellow junior Sonja Sherve placed 10th at 24:21.30.
Sophomore Violet Peterson stopped the watch at 26:31.90 and junior Ivy Peterson was 30th at 21:35.30.
North Tahoe had the first four runners cross the finish line, with Britta Johnson winning with a time of 20:34.10.
Following her were Niki Johnson (21:14.90), Hailey Gordon (21:30.80) and Alexis Hallenberg (22:01.70.
Incline freshman Saige Nolan finished fifth at 22:26.20.
North Tahoe won the team title with 17 points, followed by Lincoln County (39) and Green Valley Christian (66).
Lincoln County’s Ben Finlinson won the boys race with a time of 16:23.50.
North Tahoe won the team race with 30 points, followed by Lincoln County (41), Incline (77), Coral Academy – Reno (94) and Indian Springs (122).
