In his final meet of his high school career, Battle Mountain High School’s Blake Stuart won the 2A triple jump at the NIAA State Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Carson High School in Carson City.
Stuart came into the finals second in the seeding, but saved his best for last with a personal-best leap of 41 feet, 8.75 inches.
White Pine’s McCaul Nicholes placed second at 40-10. In addition, Stuart placed fifth in the high jump (6-0) and the long jump (19-3).
Ben George set a personal best in the discus to finish third with a throw of 117-1 in his final state championship. Sophomore Andres Molina placed fourth in the shot put with a personal best of 42-8.75 and was seventh in the discus (107).

Senior Andy Wall finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.79 seconds and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Aden Jenkins and Joey Smith finished fourth and fifth in the pole vault, both clearing 10 feet.
The 4x100 relay of Stuart, Elias Goodman, Aden Payzant and Brodie Smith finished third in a time of 45.79.

Coral Academy won the race at 45.03. The 4x800 relay of Eli Colver, Sean Doney, Wyatt Madalena and Morini Colver were fifth and the 4x200 relay of Goodman, Isaac Martinez, Zayne Hall and Chase Lutz were seventh.
For the Lady Longhorns, Jenna Chopp concluded her high school career with a third-place finish in the shot put with a personal-best toss of 31-2. She was eighth in the discus (72-6).
Lisette Haney placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 31-1 and Lindsey Bleak posted a personal best in the pole vault at 7 feet to finish fifth.

The 4x100 relay of Bleak, Taylor Clark, Haney and Hailee Cook finished fourth with a time of 54.51.
The 4200 of Cook, Clark, Kendall Mudd and Haney were sixth, as was the 4x400 relay of Ostler, Yaritza, Andrea Alcaraz and Mudd.
The 4x800 relay of Tessa Ostler, Juliet LaRiva, Sherve and Violet Peterson were seventh.
