You could say Lowry High School sophomore Brent Kenison had a pretty good weekend at the Nevada State Track and Field Championships at Carson High School in Carson City.

The state capitol was taken over by Kenison, who won three individual state titles over the two days. He did in style, setting personal bests in all three events.

He extended his school record in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet on Friday night. Dayton’s Rhys Evans was second at 13-9.

Lowry's Brent Kenison clears the bar in the high jump.

Kenison collected his second state championship on Friday, winning the triple jump by over three feet.

He lept 45 feet for the first time, winning with a mark of 45-1.50. Moapa Valley’s Brody Redd (41-11.50) and Virgin Valley’s Ethan Ofori (41-8.25) were second and third, respectfully.

If there was any question if he could complete the sweep, it was in the high jump. Kenison came into the event second in the seeding but he collected the win in the end.

He set a personal best, clearing 6-5, tying him with Churchill County’s Bransyn Wright. However, Kenison won the high jump on fewer misses.

He scored 30 of Lowry’s 55 points, as the Buckaroos finished fourth in the team standings.
