In the case of John Michael Story, charge with DUI – 1st Offense. An amended complaint was filed preceding court. Defendant entered a Guilty plea to the amended charge, which the court canvassed and accepted the same. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows:
Fined $1,140, with $150 converted jail time and given credit for time served. $490 is suspended for a period of one year on the condition of no further violations of the law other than minor traffic.
The remaining $500 is to be paid in full following court. Defendant is also ordered to attend online DUI school and victim impact panel to be completed by July 1, 2024. Bond exonerated.
In the case of Tyler James Staas, charged with, 1: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 2: Resist Public Officer. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,780, which was converted to jail time and given credit for time served.
In the case of Tyler James Staas, charged with, 1: Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, 2: Operating a Motor Vehicle While Driver’s License is Cancelled, Suspended, or Revoked. 3: Operating a Motor Vehicle w/out Having Evidence of Current Insurance Located Therein. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,290, which was converted to jail time and given credit for time served.
In the case of Tyler James Staas, charged with, 1: Operating a Vehicle While License is Cancelled, Suspended, or Revoked, 2: No Proof of Insurance. Defendant waived the formal arraignment and entered a Guilty plea to both counts. The court canvassed his plea and accepted the same and ruled as follows: Fined $1,095, with $450 converted to jail time and given credit for time served. The remaining $645 is to be paid by monthly payments of $50 beginning June 1, 2024.
In the case of Thomas Charles Garcia, charged with Illegal Burn. Pursuant to negotiation, DDA Steve Girardot reduced the fine amount to $100 with the charge to remain as is. Defendant is to pay in full on or before July 5, 2024.
In the case o Roger Dale Hartzo, charged with Display Fictitious, Cancelled, Revoked, or Suspended/Altered. DDA Steve Girardot dismissed citation due to compliance and proof provided.
In the case of Chayce William Schwab, charged with Possession of Stolen Property. The victim in this matter has not responded to DA’s office in regard to restitution, therefore none has been ordered. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $300, which was converted to jail time and given credit for time served.
In the case of Alexander Thomas Barnes, charged with, 1: DUI – 1st Offense, 2: Open Container. The county offered one exhibit which was marked and admitted w/out objection. The defendant read and signed the DUI admonishment of rights form, which was accepted by the court. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Count 1 – Sentenced to 30 days jail with 28 days stayed for a period of one year on the condition he serve two days, credit for two days time already served. Fined $585, which is to be paid in monthly payments of $50 beginning June 1, 2024.
In person DUI school and victim impact panel to be completed by July 1, 2024. Breath interlock device ordered for 185 days. Bond exonerated. Count 2 – Pursuant to negotiation in Count 1, Count 2 has been dismissed.
In the case of Gary Olguin, charged with, 1: Failure to Immediately Report Traffic Accident, 2: Hit and Run Property Damage. Pursuant to deferred agreement made by DDA Steve Girardot and the defendant’s compliance, DDA Shane Bell motioned to dismiss this case. Without objection from the defense, the court accepted this motion.

In the case of Van R. Krenik, charged with Theft by Control. The parties stated that the defendant has returned the vehicle to the victim, therefore the case was dismissed.
April 18
In the case of Rodney Wayne Armstrong, charged with, 1: DUI – 2nd Offense, 2: Driving While License is Cancelled, Suspended, or Revoked, 3: Operating a Vehicle While Registration is Fictitious, 4: Open Container. After hearing form all parties, the court ruled as follows: Count 1 – Sentenced to 60 days jail with 50 days stayed for a period of one year on the condition he serve ten days, credit for four days time served, and ordered to serve and complete the remaining six in the Humboldt County Detention Center by July 2, 2024. Fined $950, which is to be paid in monthly payments of $50 beginning May 1, 2024.
In person DUI school and victim impact panel to be completed by July 2, 2024. Breath Interlock device ordered for 365. He is also ordered to comply with all recommendations of the alcohol evaluation. Count 2 – Fined $355, which is suspended for a period of one year on the condition of no further violations of the law other than minor traffic.
In the case of Dave Beach, charged with Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon. Prior to court, DDA Steve Girardot amended the criminal complaint to NRS 202.320, which was acknowledged by all parties. The court canvassed his plea and accepted the same. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,140, which was converted to jail time and given credit for time served.

In the case of John Robert Laughon, charged with Speeding. Pursuant to plea negotiations, the county made motion to dismiss case. Court granted motion, case dismissed in open court.
In the case of John Robert Laughon, charged with DUI w/ Prior Felony Conviction. County amended criminal complaint to DUI 2nd Offense. The county offered exhibit which was accepted without objection. Defendant entered Guilty plea.
He, along with his attorney, read and signed the DUI admonishment and rights form. The court canvassed his plea and accepted the same, the court ruled as follows: Sentenced to 180 days jail with 135 days stayed for a period of two years on the condition he serve 45 days, with credit of two days, leaving 43 days.
He is to turn himself in on or before June 1, 2024. He is fined $1,200 to be paid in monthly payments of $50 a month starting on or before September 1, 2024.
DUI School and victim impact panel to be completed by September 1, 2024. Defendant was also ordered to have the breath interlock device for a period of 365 days. Defendant is to follow all recommendations of the evaluation and attend and pay for counseling for a period of 12 months with monthly reports to the court.
In the case of Andrew Cody Sevy, charged with, 1: DUI – 1st Offense, 2: Speeding. Defendant entered a Guilty plea to Count 1 – DUI.
He, along with his attorney, read and signed the DUI admonishment and rights form. The court canvassed and accepted his plea and ruled as follows: Sentenced to 30 days jail time with 28 days stayed for a period of one year.
Stayed jail time on the condition he serve two days and given credit for two days, and fined $585, to be paid from cash bail posted. DUI school to be completed by July 1, 2024. Victim impact panel – credit as presented completion. He was ordered to have the breath interlock device for a period of 185 days. Pursuant to plea negotiations, the county made motion to dismiss Count 2. The court granted the motion in open court.
