The Lowry High School swim team joined a number of area schools to compete in the Aqua 5 meet in Carson City on Saturday, March 16.
The Aqua 5 is different from other meets, with no relays. Swimmers compete in the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard free style, 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard backstroke.
The swimmer with the best combined time of the five events is the overall winner.
Tea Bengoa paced the Lowry girls, as she finished 29th in a time of 6 minutes, 21.31 seconds. She had a time of 1:15.00 in the 100 freestyle, 1:27.31 in the 100 butterfly, 32.59 in the 50 freestyle, 1:37.25 in the 100 breaststroke and 1:29.82 in the 100 backstroke.
Freshman Makenna Toland (6:41.11) and junior Evie Morgan (6:45.65) were 36th and 37th, respectfully.
Toland had times of 1:11.38, 1:38.35. 35.22, 1:49.78 and 1:26.39. Morgan stopped the watch at 1:17.60, 1:38.44, 34.40, 1:36.81 and 1:38.40.
Freshman Lizzie Harmon placed 40th with a combined time of 7:04.43.
She finished with times of 1:13.75, 2:00.78, 32.75, 1:46.28 and 1:30.87.
Freshmen Mia Martinez and Camilia Contreras placed 45th and 48th.
Alora McClure, Caitlyn Peters and Aiden Peters also competed for the Buckaroos.
Senior Garrett Jensen was the only Lowry boys swimmer to complete all five events, with a time of 6:46.40.
He had time of 1:07.45 in the 100 freestyle, 1:25.91 in the 100 butterfly, 31.72 in the 50 freestyle, 1:48.32 in the 100 breaststroke and 1:53.00 in the 100 backstroke.
Kelsen Sisley, Tanner Hatch and Steven Camacho swam for the Lowry boys.
Lowry was back in Carson City on Saturday to dual Truckee, North Valleys and Churchill County. The Buckaroos are off until April 13, with a trip to Incline.
