The Lowry High School baseball made its way to Elko this past weekend to begin Northern 3A East with the rival Indians.
Elko swept a doubleheader 7-6 and 12-1 on Friday and completed the series sweep on Saturday with an 8-4 victory. Lowry dropped to 0-3 in league play and 5-9 overall.

In the first game of the series, Lowry jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the first inning, as Matthew Casalez walked and Connor Peterson followed with a double. Erick Valencia followed with a single to push the first run across the board.
The Indians took control in the bottom of the second inning with six runs, but would not score again until the sixth inning.
The duo of Casalez and Peterson once again started a rally, with a hit by pitch and walk. Valencia was also hit by a pitch, when Kasyn Garner made the Indians play with a bases-clearing triple to close the gap to 6-4.
Lowry scored a single run in the fifth inning, as Casalez scored on a ground ball that was misplayed by the Elko third baseman.
The Buckaroos tied the game in the top of the fifth inning on an Aidan Tregellas single that plated Angus Boyles.
After four scoreless innings, Elko scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning and Lowry went down in order in the seventh inning to end the game.
The Buckaroos outhit the Indians 10-6, with Valencia, Garner and Boyles each picking up two hits. Txema Bengochea, Jakob Bauman, Peterson and Tregellas each had one hit. ReiCyan Grau started for Lowry and allowed six runs on two hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Casalez finished the game, giving up an unearned run on one hit. He struck out eight and walked four.

In the nightcap on Friday, Elko raced out to an 8-0 lead after three innings and cruised from there.
The Buckaroos had just one that coming from Adam Brooks in the fifth inning. Brooks eventually scored on a ground ball by Tregellas.
Boyles, Gabe Lange and Kayd Garner all pitched for Lowry.

After giving up a single run to the Indians in the bottom of the first inning, the Buckaroos rallied for three runs in the top of the third inning.
A single by Peterson tied the game at 1-1 and a single by Garner drove in Bengochea and Casalez to go in front 3-1.
Elko cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the third, when Lowry extended its lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth on a sac fly by Grau to score Jayce Casalez.
The Indians tied the game in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Brooks started for Lowry on the mound, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits.
He struck out four and walked six. Bauman finished the last inning.
Lowry hosts Fernley on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
