The Pershing County High School baseball team hosted West Wendover this past week.
On Tuesday, March 12, the Mustangs lost 14-0. This past Saturday, the Mustangs dropped the last two games of the series (10-0, 20-3).
After a promising preseason, it’s the sixth loss in a row for the Mustangs.
“We had a tough weekend. We had tight games every time for four to six innings and it fell apart in the end. We have some adversity to overcome but we’re showing signs of being dangerous in a few weeks,” coach Jared Jensen said.

In the closing game, Pershing County jumped out with three runs, for its only runs of the weekend.
Wyatt Hughes, Trenton Rhodes and Cade Liebsack each scored for Lovelock. Hughes, Mike Reitz and Tyler Miller handled the pitching over the weekend.
With the losses, Pershing County is 3-6 overall, and 0-6 in the 2A Northern league.
There’s plenty of season left. Many of the players have been on teams that battled back from losses.
On Tuesday, Pershing County hosted Incline. Results were not available at press time.
The Mustangs and Highlanders play the last two games of the series in Incline on Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon.
