The Elite of Nevada Basketball- Stoker named 3A Player of the Year, Backus earns all-state, first team honors

Lowry High School senior Savannah Stoker was named the Northern 3A East, Northern 3A and 3A State Player of the Year for the second straight season. She also became he first Lowry basketball player to score 2,000 points in a career.

Lowry High School senior Savannah Stoker was named the Northern 3A East, Northern 3A and 3A State Player for the second straight season.

In addition, the Lowry girls basketball team won its third consecutive state title and ninth overall, which is fourth most in Nevada history.

The selections are chosen by the league coaches.

Stoker averaged 22.2 points a game, 8.8 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 2.7 assists, all team highs for the Lady Bucks. 

Stoker became the first Lowry player to score 2,000 points in her career. 

Teammate Britain Backus was named the 3A state first team, as well to the first team in the 3A East and 3A North squad.  

This is the second consecutive season she earned those awards. Backus averaged 20.1 points a game, to go with 4.7 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 2.7 assists. 

Lowry High School junior Britain Backus was named to the Northern 3A East, Northern 3A and 3A all-state team first team. She surpassed 1,000 career points this year.

Stoker was second in points per game this year and Backus was fourth. Lowry was the only team in the state to have two players average 20 points or more per game. 

Backus also surpassed 1,000-point for her career as a Buckaroo.

The duo helped Lowry to a 22-6 record and a third straight state title after beating Fernley 61-56 in the championship game in Lawlor Events Center.

Lowry’s Chelsea Cabatbat was named the 3A State Coach of the Year.

The 3A all-state, first team included Stoker, Backus, Ivy Williams (North Valleys), Jaelece Wasson (Fernley), Campbell Mathews (South Tahoe), Claire Cox and Haylie Western of Moapa Valley and Kailani Martinez and Paris Coleman of Pahrump Valley.

The all-state, second team as comprised of Fernley’s Jasmyne Torres, Taylor Tollestrup and Kaiserita Otuafi, Tessa Lalanne (The Meadows), Isabella Robinson (Coral Academy), Riley Ladislao (Coral Academy) and Savanna Burt (Moapa Valley). 

Fernley’s Ralph Dunn was named the Northern 3A and 3A East Coach of the Year honor.

Backus, Wasson, Otuafi, Tollestrup, Torres and Mathews were named to the Northern 3A first team. Addie Menke (South Tahoe), Jade Anastasio (Churchill County), Nadia Velasquez (Fernley), Alexys DeCremer (North Valleys), Annika Hester (North Valleys), Ava Wolfe (South Tahoe) and Khloe Glover (Wooster) were named to the Northern 3A second team.

The Northern 3A East first team included, Backus, Anastasio, Wasson, Torres, Otuafi, Tollestrup and Velasquez. The second team was made up of Zoe Jarrett (Churchill County), Nadia Velasquez (Fernley), Beatty, Jacaway and Buzzetti.

Lowry senior Bryce Brinkerhoff was named to the Northern 3A East second team and honorable mention on the Northern 3A team. She averaged 5.5 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals a game.

The Lady Bucks’ Autum Sanchez and Khlloe Shorey were named to the Northern 3A East honorable mention team. 

Shorey averaged 3.8 points and 4.9 rebounds a game and Sanchez averaged 1.9 points a game, along with 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game.
