On Sunday, Feb. 25, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time, a Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) Trooper was on routine patrol on US-93 near mile marker 93 in White Pine County.
The Trooper observed a white BMW passenger car traveling above the posted speed limit and initiated a traffic stop.
As the Trooper was conducting the traffic stop, he identified indicators of possible criminal activity and requested consent to search the vehicle.
The driver and registered owner of the vehicle granted consent and a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted with the assistance of the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, the Trooper discovered approximately 2.5 pounds of suspected Fentanyl pills (16,000 individual pills) hidden within the vehicle.
Additionally, a small amount of suspected Fentanyl powder was located inside the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and booked at the White Pine County Jail on the following charges: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transporting a substance that cannot be introduced into interstate commerce and transporting a controlled substance.
