Winnemucca Junior All-Stars win District 3 Championship

The Winnemucca Junior All Stars captured the District 3 championship with a 6-5 win in eight innings against Walker River. The team includes Keston Unrein, Dyson Curry, Anthony Sims, Conner Strong, Odyn Santos, Tyler Sanders, Jaxson Morgan, Manny Herrera, Raymond Gallio, Jimmer Backus, Julian Velencia, Jaykub Esquibel and Caedon Entwistle. They are coached by Darrel Unrein, Kevin Gallio and Jaime Valencia.

The Winnemucca Junior All-Stars went a perfect 3-0 last week at the District 3 Tournament in Elko.

Winnemucca opened with a 19-5 win over Hawthorne on Wednesday, June 19 and reached the title game by beating White Pine 10-0 on Thursday, June 20.

Winnemucca trailed Walker River 5-3 in the seventh inning in the championship game on Saturday but scored twice in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
