Stoker, McClure collect first-team, all-league, all-state honors

A pair of Lowry High School senior finished out their softball career by being named to the Northern 3A all-league first team and 3A all-state team.

Savannah Stoker, who set the all-time Nevada home run record with 53 and finished third on the all-time RBI list with 214 was named the Northern 3A East Player of the Year.

Stoker was also named to the Northern 3A first team and the 3A all-state first team.

Stoker batted a team-high .496 this season with 56 hits, 59 RBI, 61 runs scored, 13 home runs, eight triples and six doubles. 

The senior pitched 128.2 of the 198 innings this spring and was 10-12 with a 4.75 ERA and 175 strikeouts.

Maddison McClure was named to the Northern 3A East, Northern 3A and 3A all-state first teams.

McClure hits .478 in 35 games, with 35 hits, 24 RBI, 15 doubles and was second on the team with four home runs.

Churchill County’s Kasey Chu was named the Coach of the Year for the Northern 3A East, Northern 3A and 3A state.

Churchill County pitcher Vernita Fillmore earned the Northern 3A Player of the Year honors.

The Northern 3A East first-team included, Addison Seipp (catcher Elko), Taylor Tollestrup (infield Fernley), Sara Moffett (infield Fernley), Reece Hutchings (infield Churchill County), Alyson Clarke (infield Spring Creek), Nadia Velazquez (outfield Fernley), Ashlynn Sorenson (outfield Spring Creek), Candice Kley (outfield Elko), Bryleigh Cervantes (DH Elko), Janessa Bettencourt (pitcher Churchill County), Vernita Filmore (pitcher Churchill County) and Taylor Hunton (pitcher Elko).

Lowry’s Cambria Tisue was named to the Northern 3A East second team at third base and Hayden Case and Adalyn Entwistle earned second team honors in the outfield.

Tisue batted .289 with 28 hits, 32 runs, 24 RBI, eight doubles, three triples and three home runs.

Case hit .386 with 44 hits, 35 runs, 33 RBI, a triple and two home runs, including here first career home run over the fence during the regional tournament.

Entwistle, a freshman, led Lowry with 58 hits and 38 stolen bases and hit .479, which was second best on the squad. She added 44 runs scores, 14 RBI and six doubles.

The remainder of the second team included Taralynn Vershum (Churchill County), Ciara Pritchard (Fernley), Layla Walker (Churchill County), Hannah Montoya (Spring Creek), Kiley Wallace (Churchill County), Ayisha Agee (Dayton), Starr Schennum (Fernley), Alea Benitez (Elko), LaSade Conti (Dayton), Tateum Bell (Fernley) and Chole Patzer (Spring Creek).

The Lady Bucks’ Natayla Guizar and Bailey Peterson were named to the Northern 3A East honorable mention team.

Guizar batted .394 with 37 hits, 32 runs scored, 30 RBI, four doubles, three home runs and two triples. 

Peterson’s season was cut short due to a shoulder injury but hit .427 with 35 hits, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored, three home runs and six doubles.

Stoker, Seipp, Tollestrup, McClure, Bettencourt, Fillmore and Hunton were selected as Northern 3A first-team players.

Moffett, Hutchings, Clarke, Velasquez, Sorenson, Kley and Cervantes were put on the second team.

The all-state first team included Stoker, McClure, Seipp and Tollestrup and the second team was Bettencourt, Fillmore, Hunton and Moffett.
