The quarter mile dirt track on Seven Troughs Road will see lots of action over Frontier Days Weekend. Lovelock Speedway will host races this Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m.
There will also be a demolition derby on Saturday after the main events.
The derby is back by popular demand after its debut at last year’s Frontier Days. It’s all part of the Napa Know How to Get Ur Done Tour, an IMCA seven-track tour.
Brett Wilkins, of Fallon, reopened the Speedway last spring at the request of his in-laws, Ed and Barbara Macedo.
In 2008, the Macedo’s built and opened the race track.
Wilkins says there will be seven classes of cars on both nights of races.
These include IMCA modifieds, sportsmods, IMCA stock cars, hobby stocks, street stocks, dwarfs and mini-stocks.
The combined point winners in each class will win a custom-made rodeo style belt buckle made by Terri Campbell of All Things Western.
“The racers look forward to racing or Frontier Days with our unique championship buckles,” said Wilkins.
The 2024 racing season ends on Saturday, Aug. 24.
