Saige Bakker swims at the Silver State Championships in Reno
The Battle Mountain NNA swim team was recently in Reno for the Silver State Championships, a home meet for the club that is based out of Reno.
Temperatures rose to 105 degrees but high winds and lightning played havoc with the championships
All of the preliminary races were held but just one final was completed and prelim times carried over to the finals.

Nevaeh Serna and Weston Reiva captured runner-up high-point honors in their respective divisions.
Serna placed first in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 54.16 seconds. She also paced the field in the 50-meter backstroke (35.01) and the 100-meter backstroke at 1:17.73.
Serna was the runner-up in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:26.87 and the 50-meter freestyle at 32.60. She finished second in the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:11.20.

Reiva improved by 4.14 seconds to be the runner-up in the 50-meter freestyle at 42.47 and the young swimmers placed second in the 50-meter backstroke (44.43), a 1.92-second improvement.
He chopped off nearly seven seconds to win the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:18.59 and 5.98 seconds in the 100-meter backstroke to win at 1:33.91.
Reiva placed second in the 50-meter freestyle (35.68) and third in the 50-meter breaststroke (55.17).

Ashley Ramos finished eighth in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:26.42, 12th in the 50-yard freestyle (59.23), 14th in the 25-yard backstroke (26.87) and 15th in the 25-yard butterfly (40.75).
Beckett Buffington finished 17th in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 2:41.77, while Barrett Buffington finished second in the 200-meter freestyle at 3:18.51.
Barrett Buffington finished sixth in the 50-meter butterfly (59.08) and ninth in the 100-meter breaststroke (2:17.78).
He added a fifth-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 40.40.
Daxon Bakker placed fourth in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 2:06.13 and fifth in the 50-meter butterfly (52.96).
Bakker was third in the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 3:13.97 and was fifth in both the 100-meter freestyle (1:26.76) and the 50-meter breaststroke (57.04).
Saige Bakker finished 11th in the 50-meter butterfly at 59.43, to go with 13th-place finishes in the 100-meter breaststroke (2:22.16) and the 100-meter freestyle (1:43.65).
Bakker placed fifth in the 200-metedr freestyle with a time of 3:41.12, a 14.75-second improvement and 15th in the 50-meter breaststroke (1:04.76), a 4.86-second improvement.
