Humboldt County Sheriff's Office to host National Night Out event

Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is set to host National Night Out, a nationwide event dedicated to crime prevention, drug prevention, and community safety. Scheduled to take place on Aug. 6, the event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Whitworth Recreation Complex, adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca.

National Night Out (NNO), sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen the partnership between the community and first responders.

The event will feature various activities and vendors aimed at fostering community spirit and promoting safety. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with local law enforcement officers, learn about crime prevention strategies, and participate in community-building activities.

National Night Out has been a  annual event since 1984, with communities across the United States participating to show unity against crime.
