On July 4, the Cattlewomen hosted one of Lovelock’s most beloved summer events - the annual children’s parade.

About three dozen children celebrated American independence with parents walking alongside the youngest of them. In their childhood, some of the parents marched the same route as their little ones.

The children’s parade makes its way from the depot to the courthouse.

A baby waved to spectators from a float while older kids rode bikes with red, white and blue streamers dangling from the handlebars.

A Lovelock dad drove a train made of barrels with a child seated in each compartment.

Sparky was there, reminding everyone about the LVFD fireworks at McDougal Park later that night. Firetrucks and police cars blocked off traffic and guided the marchers from the depot to the courthouse park.

At the park, the American Legion Post #6 served hot dogs and families ate Popsicles in the shade.

This year, the Mustang Youth Team added a new feature to the tradition.

The youth group set up music, food, games and crafts.

The festivities ended with a welcome surprise from the Frontier Community Coalition - a free swim in the community pool.
