The Lowry High School boys basketball team completed the first half of the Northern 3A East schedule with two road losses to Dayton and Fernley last week.
Lowry was in Dayton on Wednesday, Jan. 17, and overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half, but the rally came up just short.
The Buckaroos were within two points in the fourth quarter, however Dayton made free throws down the stretch to earn the win.
Coming off the tough loss to Dayton, Lowry came out on fire on Friday night and jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first quarter against the league leader.
The Vaqueros bounced back with a 23-3 run in the second quarter and scored the first seven points of the third quarter in the 66-33 win.
Lowry dropped to 9-10 overall and 0-5 in the Northern 3A East.
The Buckaroos begin the second half of the Northern 3A season in Spring Creek on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Elko on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
