The Battle Mountain High School girls basketball team knocked off Oasis Academy 57-16 on Friday and lost 50-25 to Yerington on Saturday to see its record go to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in the Northern 2A.

After Oasis Academy tied the game at 2-2 early in the game, Battle Mountain went on a 17-2 run that extended into the second quarter to take a 19-4 lead.

The Bighorns stopped the spurt with a pair of baskets, but Jenna Chopp added a bucket and two free throws to help the Lady Longhorns end the first half with the final 12 points and lead 31-8 at halftime.

Battle Mountain scored the first nine points of the second half to complete a 21-0 run, as the Lady Longhorns outscored the Bighorns 17-2 in the third quarter.

Chopp and Stevlana Martinez led the way for Battle Mountain with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Noel Hill added nine points, Lisette eight, Eimilie Johnson five and Lindsey Bleak and Heidy Amezcua two each.

Battle Mountain returned to its home on Saturday afternoon and Yerington used a strong defensive effort to earn the 25-point win and the series sweep. 

The Lions will hold the tiebreaker over the Lady Longhorns if needed for playoff seeding.

Battle Mountain travels to North Tahoe on Wednesday for a make-up game and is back on the road to Lovelock on Friday and Coral Academy on Saturday.
