Despite having this past weekend off, the Battle Mountain High School wrestling team was still able to get on the mat, with a pir of duals against Fernley and Lowry on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Winnemucca.
The Longhorns, who were not at full strength, lost 60-18 to Fernley and 51-21 to Lowry.
Cruz Jimenez gave Battle Mountain an early 6-0 advantage over Fernley, winning the first bout of the night at 120 pounds by pin over Elijah Chappell.
That was the lone win for the Longhorns until 215 pounds.
Fernley won the next nine matches, including three by forfeit. Anthony Lopez-Hernandez went the distance at 138 pounds, falling to Wyatt McGinnis 10-7.
Wyatt Madalena at 157 pounds went the full six minutes, dropping a 6-4 decision to Anthony Robles.

Battle Mountain got back on the winning track, with Leo Mathias pinning Max Torres at 215 pounds and Ben George winning by fall in the second period against Isaiah Mutte.
In the dual against Lowry, Aiden Jenkins opened up with a with an 8-6 win over Jayden Howard at 132 pounds.
The Buckaroos won the next three matches to lead 15-6, when Madlena picked up a pin at 157 pounds.
Lowry won the next three matches by forfeit and a pin from TJ Mattson to go up 39-12. George earned his second win of the night with a pin at 285 pounds and Jimenez and Liam Bundrock closed the night with pins for the Longhorns.
Battle Mountain is off this weekend and finishes the regular season on Jan. 26-27 in Fernley.
The league duals will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Wells and Friday, Feb. 2, in Battle Mountain at noon.
