#In another big week, the PCHS girls basketball team beat Oasis Academy 49-13, Silver Stage 55-14 and Coral Academy 41-23.
#They defeated Silver Stage on the road. The other two games were at home.
#Pershing County improved to 15-1 overall, and 8-1 in the 2A Northern league.
#"We were able to take care of business. At times we didn't play our best but we feel like we're trending in the right direction," said coach Lee Houston.
#The Mustangs aim to decrease their turnovers and improve their performances at the free throw line. Both will be critical in the days ahead.
#Raegan Burrows led the scoring in all three games with 18 points against Oasis, 24 points against Stage and 18 points against Coral Academy. The junior averages over 13 points per game.

#Senior Yasmine McKinney tallied eight points against Oasis Academy and 14 points against Coral Academy, including four 3-pointers.
#Of the three teams, Coral Academy posed the biggest challenge to the Mustangs, so the 3-pointers helped.
#Taylor Garland netted six points against Oasis. Anna Happy scored eight against Silver Stage. Aaliyah Allen added six.
#Against Oasis, the Mustangs put 16 points on the board in the first quarter. At the half the score was 32-4. The Bighorns were unable to recover from the onslaught.
#Likewise, the Mustangs kept Silver Stage from scoring more than a few points each quarter.
#Pershing County came out swinging with 22 points in the first quarter to the Nighthawk's four.
#The halftime score was 31-6 in Pershing County's favor.
#Against CASR, the Mustangs led by six points at the half (22-16), too close for comfort. They pulled away for good in the third quarter.
#On Tuesday, Jan. 16, Pershing County traveled to Sierra Lutheran High School. Results were not available at press time.
#Saturday, Jan 20, Pershing County hosts Incline at 2 p.m. It will be their second match-up of the year.
#The Mustangs beat Incline on the road (60-14) last month. On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Mustangs travel to CASR.
#The Falcons hope to topple Pershing County and will pull out all the stops on their home court.
#For now, Pershing County is No. 2 in the 2A behind undefeated North Tahoe at 8-0.
#After Pershing County, Yerington (7-2), West Wendover (5-3) and Sierra Lutheran (5-4) round out the top five.
#"We look forward to getting better and peaking at the right time down the stretch," said Houston.
