Lady Longhorns split with Nighthawks, Falcons


The Battle Mountain High School girls basketball team split a pair of home games on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, respectively, against Silver Stage and Sierra Lutheran.

Battle Mountain cruised to a 38-10 win over Silver Stage on Friday, Jan. 5, but lost 33-33 to Sierra Lutheran on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Falcons held a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter and contained the Lady Longhorns to just a combined seven points in the second and third quarters. 

Sierra Lutheran used an 8-2 run in the second period to lead 18-9 at halftime.

Battle Mountain traveled to Incline this past Friday and results were not available at press time.

The scheduled game against North Tahoe on Saturday was postponed due to weather and road conditions.

Battle Mountain hosts Oasis Academy Friday at 6 p.m. and Yerington on Saturday at 2 p.m.
