After playing its first 14 games on the road that ranged from Elko to Susanville, Calif, to South Lake Tahoe and Mesquite, the Lowry High School boys basketball team finally saw its home floor for game action this past weekend.
Lowry opened up Northern 3A East play on Thursday with a 62-39 loss to Spring Creek and a 56-3 loss to Elko on Saturday afternoon.
The Buckaroos dropped to 0-2 in league play and 9-7 overall.

Spring Creek 62, Lowry 39
Lowry started slow against Spring Creek, making just five field goals in the first half, with three of those coming from junior Matthew Casalez. He had seven of the Buckaroos’ 14 points in the first half.
Spring Creek closed out the first quarter on a 7-1 run to lead 13-6, with Lowry’s lone point coming off a free throw by Dempsey Jenkins.
The Spartans scored the first seven points of the second quarter to go in front 20-6 and eventually leading 31-14 at halftime.
An old-fashioned 3-point play by ReiCyan Grau closed the gap to 40-21 but the Spartans quickly built the advantage back to 24 points late in the third quarter.
Senior Kasyn Garner netted 12 of Lowry’s 25 points in the second half and had a team-high 14 points. Casalez added nine points, Jaden Jimenez eight, Anthony Guzman four, Grau three and Jenkins one.
Elko 56, Lowry 33
Garner had the lone field goal for Lowry in the first quarter, as Elko built a 13-3 advantage after eight minutes of play.
Lowry could not overcome the slow start, as Elko built an 18-point lead in the first half.
Jimenez finished with a team-high 14 points, Casalez added seven, Zaq Growcock three, Trevor Crawford and Jenkins two each and Angus Boyles and Grau one each.
Lowry hosts Churchill County on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and travels to North Valleys on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip in a non-conference match-up.
