Fans ran onto the court to congratulate the players including the three Mustang seniors Aaaron Kienbaum, Conner Fecht and Marshall Happy.

"The boys were locked in and excited for a home game" said head coach Jesse Canchola. "We got Travis (Donaldson) back but lost Taylor (Montes). The boys gave everything they had and came out on top."

The week started on the road with a 56-34 oss against Yerington. Lovelock was minus some key players.

"Game just didn't go our way," said Canchola.

Friday night was a different story.

The PCHS offense and defense pushed themselves to the max. So did North Tahoe's.

The score was never more than a few points apart as the teams battled hard for every point. The Mustangs dominated the overtime match.

Pershing County sophomore Trenton Rhodes led the scoring with 26 points. Michael Reitz, a junior point guard, scored 15.

Kienbaum supplied 14 and Travis Dolandson 11. Defensively, the team blocked North Tahoe when it counted.

Canchola expresses appreciation of his assistant coaches — Lance Condie, Steve Cerini, Rich Campbell, Tony Nelson and Jared Brinkerhoff.

"We have a chance to go on a big winning streak. We will work hard to make it happen," said Canchola.

Pershing County hosted Oasis Academy  on Jan. 9.

Results were not available at press time.

This weekend the Mustangs go to Silver Springs on Jan. 12 to play the Silver Stage Nighthawks).

On Jan. 13, PCHS hosts CASR (1-4) at 3:30 p.m.

"The boys program builds good character and they strive to be good students and athletes. That's all we ask," said Canchola.
