Lady Bucks knocked off by Timberwolves in Boise tournament


The Lowry High School girls basketball team dropped its opening game of a three-day tournament in Boise, Idaho, losing 60-39 to Timberline on Thursday, Dec. 28.

The Lady Bucks jumped out to an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter, but the Timberwolves finished the opening quarter on a 6-1 run and did not trail again.

Timberline caught fire from the 3-point line in the second quarter to open up a 29-16 lead at halftime on the strength of a 19-7 run. 

The Timberwolves maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half, as the Lady Bucks got as close as 12 points.

Britain Backus paced Lowry with 23 points and Savannah Stoker was also in double figures with 10 points. 

Natalee Formby knocked down a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter for her three points and Miranda Draper and Khlloe Shorey finished with two points and one point, respectively.

Lowry concluded the tournament with games against Eagle and Meridian and results were not available at press time due to early print deadlines from the printer in Oregon.

The Lady Bucks begin Northern 3A East play this week at home against Spring Creek and Elko.
