The McDermitt High School boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season at the Super 8 Classic, hosted by Lassen High School in Susanville, Calif., on Dec. 15-16.
McDermitt opened the tournament with a 54-49 loss to the Lassen JV and were beaten 69-26 by the Lassen varsity. On Saturday, McDermitt defeated Herlong 52-40.

Lassen held a 2-point lead (14-1) after eight minutes of play and then used a 21-14 run in the second quarter to go in front 35-26 at halftime.
The Grizzlies grew the lead to double figures in the third quarter, when the Bulldogs made it interesting in the fourth quarter.
McDermitt cut the advantage to as little as three points, only to see Lassen hold on for the win.
Sophomore Shandon Camas paced McDermitt with a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
He also had one steal. Chris Scott. Josh Northrup and Warrick Crutcher each scored eight points. Crutcher added five steals, five assists, four rebounds and a block. Northrup grabbed four rebounds.

In the final game on Dec. 15, McDermitt faced Lassen the host school and was knocked off 69-26.
Camas had a game-high eight points to go with two assists and Northrup had seven points, two rebounds and two assists. Eli Northrup netted five points, four blocks, two assists and two rebounds.
Dylan Palmer scored three points, Chriss Scott two and Treal Scott one.

In the tournament finale on Dec. 16, McDermitt collected its first win of the year, securing a 12-point victory over Herlong, Calif.
Camas finished with another double-double, including a career-high 27 points to go with 13 rebounds.
Josh Northrup added seven points, eight rebounds, four steals, a block and an assist. Palmer contributed seven points, four rebounds, three steals and an assist.
Crutcher added six points and seven rebounds and Eli Northrup and Layton Dick finished with four points and one point, respectively.
Pyramid Lake, McDermitt
McDermitt was back on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 20, to play Pyramid Lake in Nixon and lost 63-44 to drop to 1-6 on the season.
The Lakers jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first quarter, when the Bulldogs cut the deficit to 13-9 after eight minutes of action after two buckets by Camas.
Pyramid Lake used its full-court pressure defense to score the first 14 points of the second quarter to go in front 27-9 and held that double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Lakers led 35-17 at halftime and by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Eli Northrup and Warrick Crutcher had nine points apiece, Camas added eight, Cadyn Crutcher, Treal Scott, Chris Scott and Palmer three each and AJ Farmer two.
McDermitt will be in Reno from Dec. 27-30 for the Christmas Classic and North Valleys High School and Damonte Ranch High School.
McDermitt plays Spanish Springs JV on Dec. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at North Valleys.
