Last week PCHS girls basketball coach Lee Houston predicted the Mustangs would punch their ticket to state.
That's what happened this past week at the Northern 2A Regional Tournament in West Wendover.
No. 2 seeded Pershing County had a bye in the first round. Meanwhile, Coral Academy beat West Wendover 50-39 and Yerington snatched a one-point win over Sierra Lutheran 32-31.
In the semifinals, top-seeded North Tahoe eclipsed Coral Academy of Science 37-25, while Pershing County toppled Yerington 55-40.
The regional championship came down to Pershing County and North Tahoe, the only team to beat the Mustangs all season.
