Lowry High School’s Jhett Harper has high hopes of continuing his wrestling career at the college level and while the Buckaroos were in Lovelock for the Lovelock Invitational, Harber was in Reno this past weekend for the Reno Tournament of Champions.
The Reno TOC is one of the toughest tournaments in the United States.
Harber was placed as the No. 6 seed at 190 pounds and reached the championship quarterfinals with pins over Logan Bauers of Green River and Vinicius Tome of Stone Ridge Christian.
Harber was defeated in his quarterfinal bout against Jean Luc-Guerra of Mountain View. He stayed alive in the tournament with a 13-4 decision over Riverton’s Luke Jordan but was knocked out of the tourney on a 9-0 decision to Elijah Gawronski.
“I feel it was a pretty good tournament for him,” said LHS coach John Brooks. “It is something he wants to do in college. I want to give him every chance he can to make that possible.”
